Ed Aiken graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours Business Degree(BBA) specializing in Marketing and a minor in Psychology.
Ed gained invaluable experience with investments when he finished the Canadian Securities Course and worked as an investment advisor/stock broker with Edward Jones. Real Estate is probably one of the most important investments you will make in your life, so it helps to have the valuable insight into different investment options available to you.
He started his Real Estate Career in 1996 in Ontario where he specialized in investment properties and residential sales around the university area in Waterloo. He moved to Canmore Alberta in 2001 where he also sold Real Estate, specializing in Residential Sales and some commercial businesses. Ed is passionate about Real Estate and loves finding the perfect home for his clients or helping his clients sell their homes quickly and painlessly.
Ed met his wife in Canmore, Alberta who was born and raised on the Sunshine Coast. After many years of "coming home" to the Coast, Ed and his wife decided to move back to the Coast and start their Family (2 energetic boys). Before coming home to start their family they spent some time traveling the world to see New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Laos, and Singapore. Ed loves sharing his experiences with others, feel free to ask him about them or to see some pictures.
He feels it is important to give back to the community he lives in and has always been an active member of the community. He enjoys contributing and volunteering to groups such as the Roberts Creek child care society, 1st Gibsons Scouts and Cedar Grove elementary school.
In his spare time Ed loves the outdoors participating in Skiing, Biking, Hiking, Fishing and Camping. Ask him about some of the best spots to go on the coast and he will be happy to point you in the right direction.
Allen has been a resident of BC’s West Coast for almost his entire life. Born and raised in Vancouver his first career was in the whole foods industry, working for Caper’s Whole Foods Markets. In 1997-98 he spent a year volunteering on organic farms around Europe and it was there that he met his future wife, Maria.
Allen and Maria first moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1998 where they lived for a year before getting married and deciding to move back to Denmark where Maria would enter the nursing degree program. While in Denmark, Allen was enrolled in business school at the International Academy of Business in Aarhus. It was here that he obtained his diploma in Marketing Economics. He then went on to obtain his Certificate in Business Management from the Open University in England.
Upon finishing their educations, Maria and Allen and their small (at the time only 2 kids) family decided to move back to the Sunshine Coast where they had enjoyed the slow paced rural lifestyle and beautiful surroundings. Gibsons has been their home ever since. In their time living there the family has grown to 6 with new additions Thomas and Charlotte joining their siblings William and Victoria whom are all enrolled in school in Gibsons.
Allen’s Real Estate career started before even stepping off the plane in Canada as he completed most of his pre-licencing course while still in Denmark. He immediately got to work and was able to carve out a sizeable niche in the highly competitive Sunshine Coast real estate market. After a short time as a practicing agent Allen came to the realization that most Realtors followed the same model, advertising in the local newspaper. If business school had taught him anything it was that differentiation was key in the competitive marketplace.
It was this realization that led to the invention of the community events that Allen has become famous for on the Coast. The first Pumpkin carving party was held in 2006 and was attended mainly by friends, family and clients. After many years of holding the event it has grown more than 10 fold with hundreds of pumpkins being given out in trade for much needed donations for our local food bank. The event has become a coast tradition for many families and continues to grow in size every year.
